Our approach

Reporting framework

This Sustainability Report has been developed in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 ‘Core’ Reporting Guidelines.

Reporting period

This annual Sustainability Report covers the period from 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2015 (Financial Year 2015, or FY15). This is our tenth consecutive Sustainability Report, and our previous FY14 Sustainability Report and earlier reports may help provide background. They are available on our website.

Audience

This report is distributed to both internal and external stakeholders. They include employees, customers, industry groups, investors, governments, media and communities.

Other reporting

Transurban reports on a range of governance, compliance and ethics principles in its financial reporting, in particular through its corporate governance statement.

Transurban has also completed sustainability reporting and benchmarking activities for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the past six years, and is frequently listed on the DJSI Asia-Pacific and DJSI World Leadership Indexes.

Our annual Sustainability Report forms the basis of our ‘Communication on Progress’ to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), and this year’s report represents our seventh submission since becoming a signatory to UNGC in September 2009.

Transurban was recently recognised by the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI) as an Australian leader in sustainability reporting, for its consistently high level of disclosure of non-financial performance and sustainability risks. This recognises not only our annual Sustainability Report but also the manner in which we disclose sustainability issues in all corporate reporting including financial reports, investor presentations and general business communications.

Transurban has been rated in the ‘Leading’ category for all eight consecutive years in which the ACSI has conducted this research, one of only 10 businesses in Australia to maintain this level of quality and consistency.
